The beginning
My parents met tree planting in Northern BC during university. Every morning, my dad brewed coffee for everyone in his camp, a ritual that quickly became part of his routine. Naturally eco-conscious, he began to take issue with the wastefulness of paper filters—over 100 million of which are discarded daily in the United States alone. Not only do paper filters harm the environment, but they also compromise the quality of your brew. Driven to find a better solution, he sewed his very own reusable cotton filter at just 22 years old.
All about coffee
Since then, my dad has dedicated his life to coffee. From humble beginnings in learning the trade to later becoming an expert and worldwide teacher. After years of personal use, he realized that ACE needed to be shared with the world. Nearly 50 iterations were made to ensure that the brewer accomplished what he set out to achieve.
Here I come!
When I came to be, I grew up surrounded by fresh coffee. This is me learning to brew using the ACE Brewer when I was only 3. I spent much of my childhood coming up with outlandish business ideas, from early lemonade stands to a skateboard company; albeit with limited success. Fast forward to now, I am pursuing a degree in economics and business. At 20 years old, I find myself in a similar position to him at that age; in university and on a journey to understanding who I am, where I want to be, and what I want to stand for.
I’m proud to carry it forward
Earlier this year, my dad passed after a courageous battle with cancer. I decided to carry forward a small part of his legacy and take on ACE. He would be so proud of my journey and my growing passion for great coffee. Not only does the ACE Brewer give me the opportunity to work with him in spirit, but it also allows me to start something of my own – something I have been eager to do ever since I was little.
